Door holders

OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE AT CHURCH

February 14th - May 13th, 2018

“Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper [door holder] in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.” —Psalm 84:10

WHAT IS A DOOR HOLDER?

We say Door Holders instead of volunteers because volunteers can sound like people who randomly sign up and hopefully show up, while Door Holders take ownership and take great pleasure in opening a way for others to see and experience Jesus. Door Holders are the very heartbeat of our House here at Radiant Life Fellowship!

Who we are:

Door Holders are people who take great pleasure in opening the way for others to experience Jesus.

What we do:

Door Holders see and serve the people they encounter throughout our House.

ROOM IN THE INN

February 23rd - February 24th, 2018

Exciting news! Our Radiant Life MISSION'S TEAM, along with the elders and staff have chosen our mission focus for 2018!

Together, Radiant Life will do our part to help end homelessness.

Our first opportunity is coming up NEXT WEEKEND. Journey Church has been volunteering with Room In the Inn ministry and they've asked us to come alongside and partner with them on their remaining dates this winter season. They open up their facility and host around a dozen homeless people for an evening/morning. If you are interested in helping, you MUST use the signup genius included to sign up for a spot. There will be another opportunity for Room in the Inn March 23/24. We'll send another signup genius for that in early March.

Baptism feb 25

I Want To Get Baptized

February 25th, 2018

I am thrilled that you are taking this next step. This is a big deal, but I don’t want you to stress over it, so here are some details you need to know. –Pastor Chris

WHAT TIME DO I NEED TO ARRIVE AT CHURCH?

I would like for you to meet me at 9:30am in the hallway behind the auditorium stage. If you go to the front office, toward the bathrooms, it is that hallway.

AT WHAT POINT, DURING THE SERVICE, WILL I GET BAPTIZED?

After the singing (around 10:20am)

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

Towel

Clothes that will not retain much water work best (jeans are not good). Some people are baptized in plain clothes. Sometimes guys will wear their bathing suit and a dark tshirt. Sometimes girls wear their bathing suit under shorts and a dark t-shirt. We recommend not wearing a white or even light colored t-shirt, as lighter color can sometimes be seen through when wet.

Bring a change of clothes and a plastic bag for your wet clothing. We will have someone standing at the baptismal pool helping you in and giving you a towel when you exit the pool.

WILL I HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING?

In one sense, your baptism speaks for you. In another sense, you are going public with your faith in Jesus and your church family would benefit from and be encouraged by your story. So you have two options. Both options would include you writing out your story. One option would be that you read your story before being baptized. The other option would be to have someone read your story for you before you are baptized.

DO I NEED TO SAY ANYTHING?

We ask everyone who is getting baptized to READ their was/now story. What is a was/now story? It is simply your story before becoming a Christian, what led you to trust Jesus and how your life is going to be different now that you are a Christian.

IS THE "MY STORY" PART MANDATORY?

Yes. But you do not have to read it if you are too uncomfortable speaking in front of people. We would like for you to read it is possible. If not, either I (Pastor Chris) would be glad to read it or you can ask someone you trust to read it on your behalf.

IF I WRITE MY STORY, WHAT DO I INCLUDE IN IT? HOW LONG DOES IT NEED TO BE?

Your story, at its core, simply gives us a little insight into 1) Your life before trusting Christ 2) What (and when were you) prompted you to trust Christ? 3) Why be baptized now? 4) What difference has trusting Christ made in your life?

I am asking you to write your story out to ensure you think through the process of being baptized. This is your story and since we have a limited time, we ask that you are able to communicate it in just 2-4 minutes. You can start with “Hi. My name is _____________________ and this is my story. Before I trusted Christ, I was… Then I came to point in my life where I… As best as I knew how, I put my trust in the saving work of Jesus… So I decided to get baptized because… Now….”

PHOTOGRAPHER

We will have a professional photographer snap some pictures of you throughout your baptism and we’ll be sure you get those pictures asap.

As far as activities go, we'll have adventure activities like an obstacle course, a day at the lake, and an original field game called EPIC World Domination, athletic tournaments, creative activities like an art studio, open mic, and talent show, and a quad activity area that includes cornhole, quiz bowl, dance, improv, gaga ball, nine-square and more.

Crossroads has high-quality speakers and worship leaders, but what truly sets Crossroads apart is their summer camp staff. They hire and train the best college students from across the US, and they're eager to pour into our students and develop long-lasting relationships with them.
